Zvizzer vs Symplex: How the Two Polishing Systems Compare
Zvizzer and Symplex both make compounds, polishes and pads for professional paint correction. They come at it from different places, though. Zvizzer is a German brand built around a color system that ties its pads, polishes and towels together. Symplex manufactures in Orlando, and its compounds are rated on a numbered cut scale for body shop work. Neither approach is better. They’re just different, and the right one depends on how your shop works. Here’s how the two lines match up, job by job.
Quick Answer
Zvizzer organizes its range by color, so each polish has matching pads and microfiber towels, and it also offers Speed Polish, one polish whose cut you set by switching pads. Symplex rates its body shop compounds on a cut scale out of 10 (Turbo Cut 7, Piranha Cut 8, Nitro Cut 9), optimized for rotary polishers, with Micro SHR as the finishing step for rotary or DA. Both lines cover heavy cutting, one-step correction and finishing.
Meet the Two Brands
Zvizzer
Zvizzer’s headquarters is in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, and it runs a training center in Castellón, Spain. The company says its products are made in Germany and calls polishing pads its area of expertise. Its pads, polishes and microfiber cloths are built around a color system and share colors, so it’s easy to grab the right combination for each defect and avoid mixing compounds. Zvizzer also runs hands-on trainings that come with numbered certificates.
Symplex
Symplex manufactures in Orlando, Florida. Its body shop compounds carry a cut rating out of 10, and most of its polishing liquids come in pint, quart and gallon sizes, so a busy shop can buy in bulk. The line is aimed at collision repair, dealership prep and production detailing, with compounds, a finishing refiner, foam and wool pads, and an inspection cleaner.
How Each Brand Names Its Cut Levels
This is the first thing that trips people up when they move between the two brands, because the numbers mean different things.
- Zvizzer’s detailing polishes run from PC 5000 down to UC 1000. Higher numbers cut harder. PRE CUT 5000 takes out sanding marks from P1500 grit, HEAVY CUT 4000 from P2000, and MEDIUM CUT 3000 from P3000 in one step.
- Zvizzer’s Thermo polishes work the other way. HC 1500 removes P1500 sanding marks and OS 3000 handles P3000 marks in one step, so the number matches the starting grit. HR 6000 is the hologram remover. Zvizzer says all three suit fresh paintwork, including scratch-resistant paint, and are silicone- and solvent-free.
- Symplex’s body shop compounds use a simple cut score out of 10. Turbo X1 is Cut 7, Piranha X1 is Cut 8 and Nitro X1 is Cut 9. Higher numbers cut harder.
| Job | Zvizzer | Symplex |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy sanding marks | PRE CUT 5000 (from P1500), Thermo HC 1500 (from P1500) | Nitro X1 Cut 9, Rhino Rubbing Compound (1200 grit) |
| Heavy cut with gloss | HEAVY CUT 4000 (from P2000) | Nitro X1 Cut 9 (finishes down on foam) |
| One-step correction | MEDIUM CUT 3000, Thermo OS 3000, ONE POLISH, Speed Polish | Turbo X1 Cut 7, Piranha X1 Cut 8, Ultra Polish UP3 |
| Holograms and haze | FINE CUT 2000, Thermo HR 6000 | Micro SHR, Rhino Machine Glaze |
| Final gloss with protection | ULTRA FINE CUT 1000 (polish with sealant) | Ultra Polish UP3 (polish and wax) |
The rows group products by the job each maker describes. They aren’t a claim that any two products cut exactly the same.
Heavy Cutting
Zvizzer offers PRE CUT 5000, a pre-compound for deep scratches and sanding marks from P1500. For fresh paint, its Thermo HC 1500 removes P1500 sanding marks, and Zvizzer says it suits all fresh paintwork, including scratch-resistant clear coats.
Symplex covers heavy cutting with Nitro X1 and the Rhino production system. Nitro X1 is its Cut 9 compound for moderate to heavy sanding scratches. Rhino Production Rubbing Compound is a water-based, rotary-first production compound that removes 1200 grit sanding marks.
Symplex Cut 9
Symplex Nitro X1 Cut 9 Body Shop Compound from $23.54
Removes moderate to heavy grit sanding scratches with minimal swirls, very low dust and no splatter. Symplex says it’s trim-safe and body shop safe, with no silicone or fillers. It’s optimized for rotary polishers: use 3–4 pea-sized drops on a wool, microfiber or foam cutting pad, and follow with Micro SHR if you want an additional or perfect finish.

Symplex production compound
Symplex Rhino Production Rubbing Compound from $18.52
Step 1 of Symplex’s Rhino production system. Water-based, low VOC, with no silicone or filler and no white residue on plastic trim. Symplex recommends a rotary at 1400–1800 RPM with a wool pad and says a DA isn’t the primary method for this system.
Shop NowOne-Step Correction
This is where the two brands differ the most.
Zvizzer’s Speed Polish is one polish meant to handle every level of correction. You set the cut by choosing a pad: grey (hard) for major defects and P1500 sanding marks, white (medium) for moderate correction, and bordeaux (soft) for finishing. Zvizzer says it’s water-based, solvent-free and silicone-free, has no fillers, works on DA, forced-rotation and rotary machines, and lists up to 6 months of polymer protection. Zvizzer also says that protection comes off with IPA when you want to apply a coating. It’s paired with Zvizzer’s UFO Thermo Pads in 90, 140 and 170 mm. Zvizzer also makes ONE POLISH, a one-step heavy compound, polish and sealant for sanding marks from P2000, and MEDIUM CUT 3000 for P3000 marks.
Symplex handles one-step work with its numbered compounds. Symplex describes Piranha X1 as “the true one-step correction compound”: it removes medium to moderate sanding scratches and finishes to a high gloss. Turbo X1 is a lighter Cut 7 that Symplex says is often used as a one-step. With both, you change the cut by changing pads. Wool or microfiber cuts faster, and foam brings up the gloss. For one-step jobs that also need protection, Ultra Polish UP3 polishes and leaves a wax-and-polymer layer in one pass.
Symplex Cut 8
Symplex Piranha X1 Cut 8 Body Shop Compound from $20.08
Removes medium to moderate sanding scratches and finishes to a high gloss in one step. Low dust, no splatter, and Symplex says it won’t stain plastics. Optimized for rotary polishers: work a 2’ x 2’ section at medium speed with wool or microfiber for heavier correction, or foam for final gloss.

Symplex one-step polish and wax
Symplex Ultra Polish UP3 Polish & Wax from $16.68
Removes moderate defects like swirls, scratches and water spots, then leaves a slick layer of synthetic polymers and waxes. Symplex says it won’t stain or leave white residue on trim and is balanced for dark and black paint.
Shop NowFinishing and Hologram Removal
Zvizzer offers FINE CUT 2000 and Thermo HR 6000 to remove holograms, plus ULTRA FINE CUT 1000, a high-gloss polish with a sealant for the final micro-scratches.
Symplex recommends Micro SHR as the optional finishing step after its X1 compounds. While the X1 compounds are optimized for rotary polishers, Symplex rates Micro SHR for both rotary and DA machines. For production work, Rhino Production Machine Glaze is Step 2 after Rhino Rubbing Compound.
Symplex finishing refiner
Symplex Micro SHR Body Shop Paint Refiner from $18.63
Takes out compounding haze, holograms and light swirls on fresh (fully gassed-out) and cured paint. Symplex says it’s free of silicones, waxes, fillers and harmful solvents. Use a soft foam finishing pad: 600–1200 RPM on a rotary, or speed 3–5 on a DA.
Shop Now
Symplex production glaze
Symplex Rhino Production Machine Glaze from $18.52
Removes buffer swirls, light haze and micro imperfections and raises gloss. Symplex says it’s especially effective on black, red and other dark colors. Rotary at 1200–1500 RPM with a finishing foam pad.
Shop NowPads
Zvizzer calls pads its specialty. Its Thermo foam pads come in a range of hardness levels, from Ultra Hard to Ultra Soft, in trapez, allrounder, mini and cone shapes, plus nano wool, hybrid, velour and microfiber pads. Zvizzer says its thermo foam is heat-resistant and holds its hardness, and its UFO pads add a PU layer that keeps polish out of the hook-and-loop backing.
Symplex keeps it to a tighter set. Its Euro Foam pads use a Contour-Edge design and come in three grades: Blue Xtra Cut (70 PPI), Yellow Medium Cut (85 PPI) and White Finishing (95 PPI). Symplex rates them for DA, forced-rotation and rotary polishers. For heavier cutting, it makes a twisted white-and-blue wool pad and a Flex hybrid wool and foam pad.

Prep, Inspection and Towels
Zvizzer sells a sanding system with P1500 to P6000 discs: a 35 mm flower disc for dust inclusions and 77 mm and 150 mm surf discs for orange peel. Zvizzer says it works with rotary and DA machines. Its 300 GSM edgeless microfiber cloths come in each polish color, so you can keep a separate towel for each polish.
Symplex makes Look See Control, an alcohol-based inspection spray that wipes off polishing oils and compound residue so you can see the paint’s true condition before the next step or a coating. If you’re coating right after polishing, Finesse Primer Silica Polish is Symplex’s primer polish for prepping paint for ceramic and graphene coatings.
Symplex inspection cleaner
Symplex Look See Control Prep from $14.99
Ready-to-use, silicone-free, and body shop safe. Spray a light mist on the panel or a towel and wipe, flipping the towel often. Use it after polishing to check your work, and before coatings, PPF or sealant.
Shop NowFor wiping, the Symplex Edgeless Ultra Plush towel is a 400+ GSM, 16 x 24 inch microfiber that Symplex rates for removing polishes, waxes and sealants.
A Symplex Correction, Step by Step
Here’s how the Symplex pieces fit together on a typical body shop correction. Always test a small spot first.
Pro Tip
Give every polish its own towel. Zvizzer builds its color system around this: when you use one cloth for two different compounds, you may mix them, and the finish won’t come out as expected. The same rule works with any brand. Label your towels or buy them in different colors.
Which One Fits Your Shop?
Zvizzer may suit you if you like a single color system that ties pads, polishes and towels together, or you want Speed Polish’s one-product approach where the pad sets the cut.
Symplex may suit you if you work mostly with a rotary, like picking compounds off a numbered cut scale, and want gallon sizes for a busy shop. Micro SHR and the Euro Foam pads also work on a DA.
Plenty of shops mix and match. Whatever you choose, keep each compound on its own pads and towels so the products don’t cross over.
