TDS Foam Cannon Pro V2.0 review — thick snow foam car wash

The most satisfying part of a safe wash is the snow foam — that thick blanket of suds you lay down before you ever touch the paint, softening and floating grit away so your wash mitt isn't dragging dirt across the clear coat. The TDS Foam Cannon Pro V2.0 is the tool that makes that happen, and it's one of our favorite picks from our partnership with That Detail Shop. Here's the honest review: what it is, how to dial in thick foam, what soap to run, and who it's for. For the soap side of the equation, pair it with our foam cannon soap & dilution guide.

Quick Answer

The TDS Foam Cannon Pro V2.0 is a pressure-washer foam cannon that lays down a thick, clinging snow foam for a safe, touchless pre-wash. It has a high-output brass nozzle with a wide 1.1mm orifice, fully adjustable foam thickness and spray pattern, a UV-stable bottle, and a universal 1/4" quick-connect that fits any pressure washer. Grab it as a Single ($69.99) or step up to the Double ($84.99) — it turns the pressure washer you already own into a proper snow-foam setup.

What Makes the TDS Pro V2.0 Stand Out?

A foam cannon has one job: blanket the car in lubricated suds so the first stage of your wash is touchless. That pre-soak lifts and loosens dirt before the mitt ever touches the paint, which is the single biggest thing you can do to keep wash-induced swirls out of your finish. New to all this? Start with our beginner detailing guide.

The Pro V2.0 comes out of our partnership with That Detail Shop — a working detail operation, not a faceless brand — so it's built around how people actually wash cars. The highlights: a high-output brass nozzle with a wide 1.1mm orifice (not the pot-metal you find on cheap cannons), fully adjustable foam ratio and spray pattern (wide fan to tight stream), a UV-stable bottle built to last season after season, and a universal 1/4" quick-connect that snaps onto virtually any electric or gas pressure washer lance. It's a rugged, simple design that's easy to rinse out and refill between washes — no fussy parts to baby.

TDS Foam Cannon Pro V2.0

A pro-grade pressure-washer foam cannon for a thick snow foam car wash. Brass nozzle with a wide 1.1mm orifice, fully adjustable foam ratio and spray pattern, UV-stable bottle, universal 1/4" quick-connect. Same cannon, two ways to buy:

How to Get Thick Foam with the TDS Pro V2.0

1

Connect it to your pressure washer. Snap the Pro V2.0's 1/4" quick-connect onto your pressure washer lance. It fits the common quick-connect found on most electric and gas washers — no special adapter needed for the typical setup.

2

Fill the bottle and add soap. Add a high-foaming car soap, then top the bottle with water — warm water foams a little better. A dedicated foam cannon soap makes far thicker suds than a wax-heavy all-in-one. See dilution starting points in our foam cannon soap guide.

3

Dial in the foam. Open the top dial for the thickest foam, then adjust the spray fan to suit the panel. Thicker, drier foam clings longer; a wetter mix sheets off faster.

4

Foam top-down, dwell, then rinse. Coat the whole car from the roof down, let the foam dwell a few minutes (don't let it dry in the sun), then rinse. Follow with a proper two-bucket contact wash for the finish.

Pro Tip

If your foam comes out thin, the cannon is almost never the problem — it's the soap or the water pressure. Use a true high-foaming concentrate, add a little more soap, and make sure your pressure washer puts out enough pressure and flow. A garden-hose foam gun will always foam thinner than a pressure-washer cannon like the Pro V2.0.

Best Soap for the TDS Pro V2.0

Here's the thing most people get wrong: foam thickness comes from the soap, not the cannon. The Pro V2.0 will atomize whatever you feed it, so run a high-foaming concentrate to get that thick, clinging blanket. Three we reach for:

Running a ceramic-coated car? Stick to a pH-neutral foam like the Koch Gentle Snow Foam or Quan Purple Ceramic Shampoo so you don't strip your protection. Foam Cannon vs Foam Gun: Which Do You Need?

This trips up a lot of first-time buyers. The short version: a foam cannon like the Pro V2.0 needs a pressure washer and makes thick, dense foam; a foam gun connects to a garden hose and makes lighter foam without a pressure washer.

Foam Cannon (Pro V2.0) Foam Gun
Connects to Pressure washer Garden hose
Foam thickness Thick, dense, long-clinging Lighter, wetter
Best for Anyone with a pressure washer who wants real snow foam No pressure washer / apartment + hose only

If you own (or are getting) a pressure washer, the Pro V2.0 is the right call. If you only have a garden hose, look at a hose-fed foam gun instead — and browse the rest of our foam cannons & foam guns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the TDS Pro V2.0 fit my pressure washer?

It uses the universal 1/4" quick-connect that fits most consumer electric and gas pressure washers. As long as your lance takes common quick-connect tips, the Pro V2.0 snaps right on.

What soap should I use in it?

Any high-foaming car wash concentrate. Avoid thick wax-heavy "wash & wax" gels if you want maximum cling — a dedicated foam soap like Koch Gentle Snow Foam or Quan Green Wash & Wax foams best. Full picks and ratios are in our soap guide.

Why isn't my foam thick?

Nine times out of ten it's the soap or the water pressure, not the cannon. Add more soap, switch to a true foaming concentrate, use warm water, and confirm your pressure washer has enough pressure and flow. Then fine-tune with the Pro V2.0's dial.

Can I use it on a ceramic-coated car?

Yes — just run a pH-neutral foam such as Koch Gentle Snow Foam or Quan Purple Ceramic Shampoo so you protect, not strip, your coating.
