Description
Body-Shop Cutting Compound That Finishes Bright
Ardex Smart Cut 4225 is a professional machine rubbing compound built for body-shop production cutting and serious correction work. Its cut sits between Ardex Alpha Grit and marine Super 600, so it removes deep scratches and sand marks in a single pass yet still finishes bright. Made for detailers and shop technicians who need fast defect removal without chasing extra polishing steps.
Key features
- Aggressive, balanced cut for deep scratches, sand marks, and 1200-2000 grit sanding scratches
- Removes heavy defects in one pass to speed up production cutting
- Finishes bright, reducing the haze and swirling that slows down follow-up polishing
- Cut level positioned between Ardex Alpha Grit and marine Super 600 for versatile correction
- Engineered for high-speed buffers with wool or foam cutting pads
- Trusted Ardex Laboratories formula backed by decades of automotive reconditioning experience
How to use
Work on a clean, cool surface out of direct sunlight. Shake well, then apply a small amount of Smart Cut to a wool or foam cutting pad on a high-speed buffer. Work a 2 ft x 2 ft section at a time using moderate pressure and overlapping passes until the defects are removed, keeping the pad flat and the surface cool. Wipe the residue with a clean microfiber towel and inspect, then follow with a polish or glaze if a deeper gloss is desired. Avoid letting the compound dry on the paint, and keep the pad clean for consistent cutting.

Pro Detailer Tips
Patch Test First
Before applying any new product to a full panel, test on a small hidden area first — especially on older paint, vinyl wraps, or exotic finishes.
Read the SDS Sheet
Every professional detailing product has a Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Review it before first use to understand proper handling, dilution limits, and safety precautions.
Store Properly
Keep products in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and freezing temperatures. Extreme heat or cold can degrade chemistry and shorten shelf life.
